Woodford Reserve Master's Collection Madeira Finish Bourbon

To celebrate 20 years of the Master's Collection, Woodford Reserve Master Distiller Elizabeth McCall created truly unique whiskey.  Although the label sports a large "Madeira Cask Finish" the bottling is much more than another finished bourbon.  Rather, McCall took bourbon, rye, and wheat whiskey and finished each component individually in ex-Madeira casks, blended them together, then blended that with unfinished wheat whiskey (whew!).  The final blend was bottled at Woodford's classic 90.4 proof.  The nose is rich and fruity with scents of cherry, red berries, chocolate, candied nuts, and baking spices.  The palate opens with cinnamon, clove, and cigar box before the fruity midpalate brings raisin, dry cherry, and dark berries.  The finish features fruit, baking spice, and dark chocolate which linger pleasantly.
