Plantation Panama 2010 'Terravera' Double Aged Rum

One of only two vintage releases from 2023, Plantation Panama 2010 hails from the country's remote Don Jose Distillery, most well known for their house brand, Ron Abuelo. 22 Barrels of the 2010 vintage were selected in 2018, before undergoing a transatlantic voyage back to France, the home of Maison Ferrand. These 22 barrels were then recasked into French Oak and aged a further 5 years before bottling at a robust strength of 51.4% abv with no added sugar, or "dosage". 

The nose is fragrant and fruity, opening on fresh coconut and dill, leading to plum, nectarine, citrus, almond, cinnamon, vanilla, honey and hint of sesame. The palate is fresh, fruity and spicy with pear, berries, orange and figs with butterscotch and hints of coffee, pepper and custard. It's a long dry finish on coconut, banana, tobacco, allspice, chocolate and licorice.
