The Not Scotch Whiskey Set

In most people's minds, Scotch is synonymous with Single Malt. It is much more common to hear someone decribe themselves as a "Scotch Drinker" than a "Malt Whiskey Drinker". But in much the same way that more and more great Bourbon is being made in states other than Kentucky, malt whisky from around the world has become more available and of a higher quality than ever before. Nothing against Scotch - there are certainly a good number of Scotch distilleries that hold our wee malty hearts - but we love seeing the unique and tasty spins on the style that have taken hold all around the world. The more malt the better!

Brenne French Single Malt - This unique newcomer tastes like a soft, golden Speyside Scotch with a little something extra. Honey, apricot and crème brûlée kick into a spicy ginger and black pepper finish and a gentle puff of smoke.

Westland American Single Malt - In pursuit of an authentically American single malt whiskey, Westland brings their signature five-malt barley bill together with new American oak casks - two things practically unheard of in Scotch, producing a dramatically different whiskey in the single malt category.

Kaiyo Mizunara Oak Single Malt - "The Single" whiskey from Kaiyo is a 7 year old malt whiskey, made on a coffey still in Japan, and aged in bourbon barrels before spending 6 months aging on the ocean in Japanese Mizunara oak. The constant rocking pulling out the oaks delicate fruity and floral flavors. Vanilla, honey, floral and hints of spice and coconut. A honey note lingers on the finish.
