Akashi 5 Year Sake Cask Single Malt Japanese Whisky
$199.50
This Single Malt Japanese Whisky from Eigashima Shuzo (White Oak Distillery) in Hyogo Prefecture was distilled from lightly peated barley in copper pot stills before aging for 4 years in ex-bourbon barrels. It is then finished for an additional year in casks that held Kijoshu Sake, a particularly rich and intense variety of Sake that is made by replacing some of the water used during fermentation with finished sake; similar in robustness to a sherry, this unique sake finish imparts a unique character to Akashi's elegant single malt. The whisky has a nose of walnut & vanilla with just a hint of peat. A palate of bittersweet orange and chocolate-covered banana finishes with drying notes of black tea and leather. Bottled at 50% abv.
