Knob Creek B&B Private Barrel Bourbon

When we first got a store pick of Knob Creek, we were beside ourselves with glee, and many of you joined us. Both the bourbon and rye barrels we got blew our minds and we couldn't wait until we could bring in more. We were like sweet little orphan Oliver with our Beam people - "Please sir, can I have some more?" But they told us we had to be patient, and so we were. But it's finally here, bourbon first, and it's another doozy.
Jim Beam deserves more credit than it gets across the board. For non-bourbon nuts, it is likely associated with an early on - introduction to drinking night, and for initiates, they just don't seem to garner as much attention, maybe because there aren't as many unicorns in the portfolio. There's a lot of stellar Beam out there sitting on the shelf without having to pay exorbitant amounts. And the best of that portfolio often comes in this form, the high proof single barrel Knob Creek selections. Ours is a big character, aged 9 years and 7 months and bottled at the standard 120 proof. Selected on site in August of last year, it was aged in Warehouse 1, on Floor 06, in Rick 083.
The nose whacks you over the head with tiramisu, amaretto, cinnamon stick, pound cake, red apple skins, creamsicle, wet oak, and petrichor. On the palate, there is big time Beam peanut brittle, chocolate chips, slightly bitter orange zest, cherry life savers, red hot candies, nutmeg, baby ruth bar, and a slight hint of biting oak. The finish won't leave you no matter how hard you try, and is all toffee and peanut brittle. For fans of the Big Beam profile, this is a classic.
