Artist Series Laphroaig 2004 Vintage 16 Year Single Malt Scotch
Established in 1825 by brothers Donald and Alexander Johnston, Laphroaig still employs the traditional methods and time-honored skills that have been used for centuries to produce one of the most distinctive single malts in the world. Located at the head of Loch Laphroaig on the south coast of Islay, Laphroaig Distillery is renowned for the rich, unmistakable taste of its whisky.
Hailing from the legendary Islay distillery, this single cask of Laphroaig shows distinct floral aromas and unctuous flavors reminiscent of oily, chocolaty peat. The richness of its aroma and palate are equaled only by its amazing complexity. Alongside its very long finish, the superb aromas of artichoke escape from the empty glass, showing that this Laphroaig has many more secrets to share.
On the nose, you'll find lily of the valley, lemon, tiger balm, and clove. The palate hits you fast with peat, dark chocolate, fresh peach, pineapple, banana, and camphor. Chimney fire opens the finish, with further notes of vanilla, chocolate, barley, black tea, smoked bacon, and lime zest. Aged in a refill hogshead constructed of ex-bourbon barrels, and bottled in a 700 ml bottle at a cask strength of 55.1% abv.
