Penelope Toasted Rye

For the 2024 release of Penelope's Toasted Rye, MGP's flagship rye whiskey (95% rye, 5% malted barley) is fully matured in charred new American oak before finishing in a new lightly charred and heavily toasted barrel.  The whiskey, which is at least six years old, is bottled without chill filtration at 100 proof.  The nose offers scents of rich caramel, mint, cinnamon, cedar wood, and oak.  On the palate, flavors of vanilla and campfire toasted marshmallows open the sip sweetly before the rye whiskey asserts itself with notes of mint, dill, cinnamon, and citrus.  Sweetness returns on the finish, with creme brulee and a light fruitiness balanced by a touch of spiced oak.
