Californiacano Cocktail Kit
The Americano, the charmingly light on its feet predecessor to the Negroni, was so named because it was especially popular with well-to-do American tourists who were able to escape Prohibition in Italy. It remained popular for many years, only recently eclipsed by the English speaking world's fascination with the Spritz and the Negroni. This toothsome spin on the classic lures its essence away from Northern Italy and firmly places it in Northern California, hence the rename. Filling the role of "Campari", there is San Francisco based Brucato's fabulous Woodlands Amaro. Woodlands takes a classic dark amaro profile and imbues it with strong hits of cacao, elderberry, citrus zests, and fig. This creates a much darker and heavier profile than the traditional Campari, but it is enlivened by Napa based Mommenpop's new Kumquat aperitif wine. Tangy, crisp, and juicy, it also manages to capture an autumnal warmth through its inclusion of cinnamon, persimmons, cardamom, and toasted fig leaves. Together with the Woodlands, you have a perfect "Fall in California" aperitif, both bright and warming.
Kit includes: Brucato Woodlands Amaro (750 ml), Mommenpop Kumquat Aperitif (750 ml), Fever Tree Club Soda Cans (8 pack)
