Nordes Atlantic Gin

From Galicia, in the northwest of Spain, tucked just above Portugal, comes Nordes Atlantic Gin. After building quite a devoted fan base in Europe, it is finally available in the U.S. The botanicals include many locally sourced ingredients, such as laurel, sage, eucalyptus leaves, mint, juniper, ginger, black tea, and cardamom. The effect is a big and aromatic gin, with floral and fruity notes throughout. This is partially thanks to the unusual base spirit: a non-neutral distillate of the Albariño grape, which is famed for its bright and almost botanical profile, sometimes compared to Gewurztraminer. It creates a light sweetness on the palate, which is perfectly balanced by the floral notes of the laurel, sage, and eucalyptus. Bottled at 40% abv.
