Drumshanbo Gunpowder Sardinian Citrus Gin
The latest release from The Shed Distillery: an Irish gin with an exotic twist! This gin is distilled with more than 12 east Asian botanicals, gunpowder tea, and a hint of Sardinian citrus - one of the rarest citrus fruits in the world found only on the island of Sardinia. The mix of botanicals and gunpowder tea gives this gin a uniquely fragrant, spice cabinet meets citrus grove aroma. Flavors are a delightful meld of orange and grapefruit, which leads to a juicy and floral finish.
Crafted in the town of Drumshanbo, Ireland at The Shed Distillery on a two-and-a-half-thousand liter medieval copper pot. Founder PJ Rigney said "I love Gin. But also, I have traveled a lot... and really wanted to bring something exciting back to Drumshanbo. And I felt this was one way of doing it - bringing back botanicals from around the world and combining it with meadowsweet that we pick in Drumshanbo to create a remarkable, delicious and very exotic tasting citrus Gin that would compete with the best in the world." Each botanical is distilled in the pot, the gunpowder tea and fresh citrus in the vapour basket. The gin is then rested for 21 days, after which a very light cold filtration is done, leaving the essential citrus oils in the Gin.
Best enjoyed in a zesty Martini, in a complex Corpse Reviver No. 2, or with some tonic and a twist of grapefruit. Bottled at 43% abv.
