Rare Character MAP-R-467 Single Cask Straight Rye Whiskey finished in a Maple Cask

Distilled by Ross and Squibb (MGP) in Indiana, this rye whiskey was aged in Kentucky and finished in a maple cask before bottling without chill filtration at a cask strength of 110.22 proof at a total age (including finishing) of 7 years and 2 months.  The maple is assertive on the nose but balanced by baking spices and citrus peel.  The palate has big maple sweetness upfront with less prominent rye bread and baking spice notes underneath.  A long finish brings to mind sweet maple candy with just a hint of cinnamon and clove.
