Kilkerran 8 Year Cask Strength Single Malt Scotch

The 2024 release of Kilkerran's 8 Year Cask Strength Single Malt was fully matured in ex-sherry casks before bottling without chill filtration or added color at 114.8 proof.  The nose is rich with raisin, burnt sugar, soft peat, wet earth, leather, and a touch of motor oil.  The medium-thick palate is sweet and earthy with raisin, blackcurrant, toffee, red berries, sweet wood, and lactic funk.  The finish is long and robust with notes of salty smoke, sweet wood, and some ginger spice.

Kilkerran is the flagship whisky made by the Glengyle Distillery, Springbank's sister distillery just down the road in Campbeltown. Reopened just a handful of years ago in 2004 after 80 years of being shuttered, it makes for a wee grand total of three operational distilleries in Campbeltown, once the undisputed capital of whisky-making in Scotland.
