Ardbeg 'The Unicorn's Tale' Limited Edition Single Malt Scotch

The Unicorn's Tale is Ardbeg's second release in their Anthology series of cask finishes.  For this release, Ardbeg aged their excellent single malt in ex-Madeira casks for 14 years before blending it with 14 year old ex-bourbon cask Ardbeg and bottling the blend without chill filtration or color added at 92 proof.  The nose offers scents of sweet peat, tarry smoke, red fruit, citrus, and some dry oak.  Traditional Ardbeg smoke and ash lead the palate, giving way to fruity flavors of grilled peach, charred lemon peel, and tropical kiwi and pineapple.  On the finish, charred citrus and woodsmoke combine with some tingly, tannic oak and a touch of sandalwood.
