The Calcherovka Negroni Cocktail Kit

At first blush the build of this Negroni doesn’t stray far from the classic formula (spirit + bitter + vermouth), but we’ve made two big updates to create our sweater weather riff. In place of gin, or one of the other now often featured spirits – this is the rare variation that uses Brandy as the base, more precisely Calvados, France’s famous apple brandy. A traditional red bitter would ride roughshod over the delicate elegance of our Calvados, so it is preserved and enhanced by pairing with Becherovka, a Czech liqueur featuring ginger and cinnamon, with subtle notes of clove, nutmeg, and mint, and finally a lingering rooty bitterness. They are rounded out with one of our all-time favorite Negroni vermouths – a long overdue appearance in the club! Antica Torino Rosso Vermouth is one of the leanest red vermouths we stock, less sweet, with an Amaro like bitterness and twangy hit of rhubarb.
