Castle & Key 7 Year Cask Strength "Batch 1" Wheated Bourbon

Distilled form a mash bill of 73% Kentucky-grown white corn, 17% malted barley, and 10% white winter wheat, Batch 1 of cask strength wheated bourbon from Castle and Key is comprised of a blend of 109 barrels aged at least seven years before blending and bottling without dilution at 105.8 proof.  The nose gives scents of stone fruit and orange zest along with sweet shortbread and some baking spices.  On the palate, flavors of sweet pastry combine with some light fruit for a nice sweet opening before some peppercorn and roasted nuts round out the sip.  The lengthy finish evokes chai tea with some pastry sweetness and a touch of toasted oak.
