New Riff Bottled in Bond Bourbon Whiskey
Distilled from a non-GMO mash of 65% corn, 30% rye, and 5% malted barley, New Riff’s Bottled in Bond Bourbon is aged at least four years before bottling at 100 proof without chill filtration. The nose gives off rich classic bourbon notes of vanilla, caramel, oak, and a touch of rye spice. The palate starts with french vanilla before the higher rye content declares itself with notes of black pepper, clove, and cinnamon. The spice lingers through the finish, joined by a light fruity sweetness and a hint of oak.
New Riff is located in Newport, Kentucky, just across the Ohio river from Cincinnati. The distillery was founded in 2014 by Ken Lewis and Jay Erisman, who had previously worked together at the Party Source liquor store (Lewis was the owner and Erisman the Fine Spirits Director). Still independently owned and operated, New Riff’s commitment to quality means that all of their whiskies meet the standards of the Bottled-in-Bond Act and are not chill filtered.
