Lost Lantern 'Shadow' Blended American Malt Whiskey

Shadow by American independent bottler Lost Lantern is a blend of three unique peated American single malt whiskies: a six year old malt from Cedar Ridge Distillery in Iowa that was aged in an ex-bourbon cask, a four year old malt from Hood River Distillery in Oregon (makers of McCarthy's) aged in new Oregon oak, and a seven year old malt from Boulder Spirits in Colorado aged in new American oak.  The blend is bottled without chill filtration at a cask strength of 126.4 proof.  Only 500 bottles were created.   The nose is rich and dark with campfire smoke, peat, clove, leather, salted chocolate, and earthy oak.  The palate is smoky and earthy upfront with a fruity pop of plum and brandied cherries at the midpalate.  Black pepper, chocolate, and oak round out the sip with the chocolate and oak lingering through a finish with dry fruit, smoke, and spice.
