Green River Straight Bourbon Whiskey
Green River is a historic distillery first opened in 1885, located in Owensboro, Kentucky, about 2 hours west of Louisville on the banks of the Ohio River. Shuttered since Prohibition, it was once home to famous brands such as Ezra Brooks, Old Medley, Mellow Corn, and Kentucky Beau. The distillery was resurrected in 2014 and laid down its first barrels in nearly a century in 2016. In 2022, the distillery was purchased by Bardstown Bourbon Company.
Their Straight Bourbon Whiskey is 90 proof and aged at least five years onsite at some of the oldest warehouses in the state. Rich in color with a golden-amber hue, Green River features a mashbill of 70% local Kentucky corn, 21% winter rye and 9% malted barley. The higher rye content contributes warming spice notes on the nose and palate.
