Old Forester 1924 10 Year Old Bourbon

The Old Forester Whiskey Row Series’ 1924 10 Year Old is a limited annual release celebrating another milestone in Old Forester’s storied history. Distilled from a (different than usual) mash of 79% corn, 11% rye, and 10% malted barley, Old Forester 1924 was aged at least 10 years before bottling at 100 proof. The nose offers scents of butterscotch, toasted oak, vanilla, caramel, and brown sugar. The palate has flavors of rich oak, cinnamon, vanilla, caramel, honey, candied orange peel, and some peppery rye spice. On the finish, robust, sweet, rich oak lingers with supporting hints of leather, rye spice, and dark chocolate. A rare, age-stated Old Forester release, this 1924 is a terrific addition to the Whiskey Row lineup.

During Prohibition, more than 200 distilleries were forced to close. Old Forester, however, continued operations because the federal government issued us one of six medicinal licenses, P-3. In 1924, Old Forester acquired barrels from closed distillers, with different mash bills, and bottled that liquid as Old Forester. This release commemorates that moment in time.
