Mommenpop Seville Orange Aperitif
Mommenpop started in 2017, as winemaker Samantha Sheehan and her husband Michael were on a spritz kick, drinking them almost daily over the course of a particularly hot California summer. Sam developed Mommenpop at home that year - just for her family and friends - as a less-sweet, dye-free alternative to aperitifs that she loves but that were just so sweet. She used locally-grown peak-season Seville oranges and a juicy base of her own Chardonnay. Then she made some more, with more citrus, and more wine, and more people started asking for it, and a new California aperitif was born.
Mommenpop Seville Orange is California sunshine in a bottle - warm and bright. Like liquid orange marmalade, it is pleasantly sweet and delightfully tangy. Seville Oranges have a brief growing season and are only available in California for a few short weeks - which makes this product even more special! Sevilles are prized for their peels, which are rich in aromatic oils, making them the ideal varietal for marmalade. Mommenpop uses the whole citrus, peels and all, to capture these amazing aromas and the sour juiciness of the flesh. Vibrant on its own, in a spritz, or in a variety of classic cocktails. Bottled at 17% abv.
